The Saab 9-3 Oozes Of Style

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Saab has developed a global reputation as an innovator in many ways. It was the first company to introduce turbocharging for cars and its safety technology is among the best in the world. The design of its cars has always been distinctive to say the least, with many features that you won’t find on any other car So with that in mind, although the new 9-3 carries over some of the traditional hallmarks of the marque, there is no doubt it was conceived to cater to the more conservative tastes of the BMW 3-series/Audi A4 buyer.

The obvious factor in this regard is the move from a five-door hatch configuration to a four-door sedan. Saab claims that is what the prestige market wants and if you look at the rivals, you have to agree.

Saab has done a good job on the design,The 9-3 retains a stylish and solid presence with its wide and low body and big 17-inch wheels invoking a sporty look. Slide into the driver’s seat and there are further familiar Saab trademarks. The seats are trimmed in a combination of leather and cloth and offer a fully electrically adjustable driver’s pew. The dash is similar to the previous model in that it is oriented towards the driver but with the availability of satnav, hands free phone and Bluetooth wireless systems, sees the addition of a screen and many more buttons that are smaller and not as immediately user-friendly as the simple dials and large buttons of the old 9-3.

There is plenty of room up front and the boot is quite large and expandable with a 60/40-split rear seat back, but rear adult passengers may have a bit of a whinge about legroom, which is not exactly generous.

There is no shortage of standard kit for comfort or safety with a checklist that includes dual climate control, cruise control, seven-speaker single in-dash CD player, remote locking, power windows and mirrors, ABS, traction control and six airbags.

The all alloy engine is smooth and refined With little torque below this combined with a short take up zone for the clutch pedal, starting from standstill can be sluggish at best and stall-inducing at worst..

The steering is sharp and direct but could do with a bit more feel, and pushing the car through tight corners, it stays solid and stable on the road with plenty of grip.

On the flip side, the ride is comfortable over all surfaces with low levels of noise vibration and harshness (NVH), ensuring quiet cruising. The brakes too are very good, pulling the car up quickly and effectively with a decent amount of pedal feel.

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

The reasons why people buy used cars are many and varied. Some of the reasons include saving some money as used cars are cheaper and buying a used car as it is a first car and it will help to avoid worry about scratching. But there are others who like working on used cars and would like to get an older one which they can restore until it looks as good as new again. Working on classic used cars really can be a great hobby that not only brings a lot of pleasure but could even make you money.

Classic Used Cars Are A Labour Of Love

Working on restoring a classic used car back to its former glory can be a labour of love. You should not take on a project like this if your intentions are to make a quick profit as it is highly unlikely that you will. A project like this will often mean that you end up spending quite a bit of money and time. It can be very time consuming to try and track down all the parts you are going to need. Unless you think you will have the dedication and patience for a project such as this you should not even think about taking it on. This is not a scheme for making a quick buck and once you have finished restoring the car you will probably not want to sell it anyway.

The Real Reward Of Classic Used Cars

Observing the transformation of classic used cars back to full working order is a pure joy. Many of these vehicles were only fit for the scrapheap but now they have been given a second lease of life. Driving something like this is almost certain to win you admiring glances whenever you take it on the road. The process of car restoration may seem long and difficult but the final rewards really do make it all worthwhile. This hobby is definitely a good one to get into.

If the time has come for you to be searching out used cars, you may end up much better off by thoroughly researching the cars that interest you. Researching allows you to find the very best used cars for the category you are looking for. Once you’ve finished, you could find youself driving away from the dealers in a used cars staffordshire or even a used cars tayside.

No Need For Angry Drivers

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

In today’s traffic, it would be nothing short of a miracle that you don’t come across some or other angry driver on a commute to work and back. And almost always it is a male.

It might not be a rude hand. Then it is yelling and screaming – luckily most of the time, there isnt enough time for them to wind the window down before letting out their rage.

I must admit, I’m not the best driver out there, but I’m certainly not as bad as some of the road ragers make me out to be. I might slowly drift lanes every now and then, but, hey, everyone does that! At least it is not a truck i am driving. Then it would really make a difference if I went to the next lane.

Also, if I have already entered a round-about and need to take the next exit, being on the inside lane is not that bad, doing a quick slice across to the exit is possible. If you do it very fast!

That aside, it helps to be alert when driving so as to minimise the road rage. Its also amazing at the difference in reaction when you’re driving a great car and when you are not driving such a good car. Other drivers are less angry when you drive an expensive car.

One other thing that really gets on people’s nerves sometimes is indicating too late when turning a corner. I know i have made my mind up that late indicators should be classified as bad drivers. I sometimes indicate too late, but that is when I change my mind just before a turn. All people do that every now and then!

Pedestrians can also be a bit of a bother. When in a hurry it seems that pedestrians walk across the road slower. Don’t you think so? They walk at a leasurly pace. Wondering across the road. Luckily I do not have road rage.

Driving In Greece

Monday, July 12th, 2010

I recently visited a country which holds the record of longest coastline. Greece is surrounded by Ionian Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Aegean Sea. No doubt it is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe. The weather is beautiful, people are beautiful it is just amazing. Though there is one downfall which is the driving in the capital city. We hired 3 used cars for six days of our trip and after six days we felt like we were driving in Asia other than Europe.

The traffic is horrific. People are pushing for spaces on the road, some people drive through tram lines, which is terribly dangerous. The main downside are the road signs. The road signs are in Greek and if you don’t know how to read and speak Greek then you struggle to find your way round Athens or even the whole of Greece to be honest. The only things in English are the billboards advertising for erotic clubs and online casinos, what good is that for us?.

To be honest outside Athens driving is the best. Our drive to Delphi which is situated 3 hours away from Athens in the heart of mountains is an amazing experience. The road to Delphi leads through the mountains passing another small town called Arachova. It can be dangerous if you are a careless driver so I would suggest you to keep your eyes on the road. It reminded me of our driving experience in the Himalayas of Nepal. My best driving experience compare to my friends was certainly driving in the island of Poros and Aegina. You have to catch a ferry to these islands and then drive to see the temples and other historical Greek sculptures.

Driving can definitely be a nightmare in Greece but once you get used to it, then it certainly is the right choice. We went in the month of May and it gets hot then so it was a good idea to hire cars other than take public transport.

We hired used Audi A4 Saloon for our trip to Delphi and I thought I will write something about this car. I like to write car reviews on cars which I have used on my holidays to let help you people decide which car is the best to drive in which country. I never had no problem with the Audi and I definitely recommend you to hire this car when you visit Greece.

Monday, July 12th, 2010

A used Lexus IS  is a great car to buy for a number of reasons. A new car is very expensive, and it is difficult to invest in new cars in these hard times. One can find really good deals of used Lexus IS 250c from the local car dealers or from internet search.

However, problems come with their solutions, and it is upon us to fix an existing problem. While making a decision for purchasing a car, the best idea is to buy a pre owned car. This can be friendly to your limited budget constraints.

So, even if you think that the used car that you are intending to buy needs repair and maintenance, you can go to the local Lexus Service and Maintenance centre and ask for authentic and reliable services from there.

All that you require is to do some research to find a car of your choice. Using a proper research and analysis of your choice of colour, requirements, customization etc., you can buy a Lexus of your own at a much lower price, as compared to the price for a brand new piece.

There are plenty of people who advertise the sale of their cars in newspapers. You may find a few sellers who want to sell Lexus. Newspapers are still a feasible means for buying a used car. Just make the right choice when it comes to the newspaper you use.

Before purchasing any per owned convertible, it is imperative that you take it out for a test drive and drive it both ways: with the top Up and down. This will help you in assessing the noise and wind turbulence and the functioning of the convertible top.

What most people prefer while finding used Lexus is looking on the internet. There are a lot of authentic and reliable websites that have been in this business for a very long time now. Lexus cars for sale.ie is a website that claims that it gives original prices. Buying a used car online gives you the advantage of buying it within your own town or county, or buying it from another Town or province. You may have to pay for the delivery charges of the vehicle, if you are buying it from another town.

Overall, all of the above mentioned tips will help you in finding the best Lexus IS  which might not only be in perfect condition but available on good discounted price as well, if you do some prior survey and research.

Cleaning A Car Interior

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Owning an antique automobile and lovingly restoring it to its former glory is a dream of many. Protecting that automobile clean on the within, however, is process that takes a really light touch. The supplies used to construct the interior of an older car and the very passing of time mix to make for moderately delicate surfaces.

If you wish to hold your vintage vehicle looking and smelling nice, there are a variety of tricks of the trade. The primary rule is to at all times use the gentlest approach first. Gentle cleansers without abrasives, for example, are greatest to start out with. So, what do it’s good to preserve a classic in tiptop situation? Listed below are the essential supplies that can allow you to get the job accomplished right:

Vacuum - An automotive vacuum is your best pal when working on cleaning the interior of an vintage car. Use it to clean mats, carpeting and dust and crumbs stuck in the seats. Do this before proceeding to clean the vehicle. Tender clothes and nonabrasive sponges - Use these to rub the dash, assist with cleaning the seats and eradicating built up gunk from the steering column and instrument panel. Water - This is the unique cleansing agent. Use it first to attempt to take away stains, spills and built up gunk. If water and fabric alongside won’t do the trick, move on to different cleaning agents. Leather-based cleaner - If the seats are produced from leather and you might be constructive of this, use a top quality leather-based cleaner and softener to scrub and protect the material. Be certain not to rub too hard. Don’t give in and use abrasives to scrub dirt out of cracks either.

Vinyl cleaner - A gentle vinyl cleaner can be utilized in place of leather-based cleaner if the seats are made from this artificial material. Softener or polish - Needless to say vinyl and leather-based can dry out and crack. To prevent harm or stop it from getting worse, you’ll want to deal with leather or vinyl seats and dashboards with a softening agent. Choose one made for the particular inside in the basic you own. Carpet/upholstery cleaner - Discover the gentlest cleaner designed for automotive use and apply it sparingly to upholstery and carpeting. Check the cleaner in an not noticeable spot, too. It will make it easier to determine if any bleeding will occur.

Newspaper - When this combines with water or window cleaner getting the windshield cleaned shall be a snap. Just spray the windshield and use the newsprint such as you would paper towel. Newspaper removes worry about streaking and is mild enough to not scratch glass surfaces. Baking soda - If the interior of the automotive smells musty, open a few packing containers of cheap baking soda and allow them to sit inside the vehicle for a few hours. Baking soda will pull out a lot of odors from the air and depart the vehicle smelling more energizing in little time at all.

While harsh chemical cleaners are wonderful to make use of within the automobiles of at present, antiques deserve a gentler touch. If it is time to clear your traditional, remember much less is usually more on the interior.

Fair Oaks Ford Has The Cure For The Summertime Driving Blues

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Old man winter is almost gone and the sun rays are breaking through the clouds, which means it is time to open the garage and wake the summer car from its hibernation. The Factory Certified Technicians at Fair Oaks Ford have put together this checklist that can save any car owner time, money, and aggravation this summer driving season. An easy first step is to check the air pressure in the tires. Seasonal temperature changes affect tire pressures. Improper tire inflation affects ride smoothness and safety; remember that an over-inflated tire is just as potentially harmful as an under-inflated tire. Don’t forget to inflate the spare tire and check that the roadside tools (jack, lug-wrench, and wheel lock if necessary) are working properly. Next check that all of the fluids are full including radiator fluid, motor oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid and windshield washer fluid. Make sure to pay special attention to the HOT and COLD level indicators and only fill to the proper line. Adding too much oil or fluids can damage sensitive engine components. Check that the battery is fully charged and the battery terminals are corrosion-free. Nothing is worse for a car battery than high heat combined with high humidity. Most auto parts stores will test a battery for free. An oft-overlooked piece of safe summer driving is the condition of the windshield wipers. They should be free of cracks and the steel hooks should be clear of the windsheild surface. A replacement set of wiper blades can be had for $20 and can really take the fear out of summer driving. Finally check the serpentine belts for fissures and tension. A repetitive squeaking noise is the early warning sign of impending belt failure. This belt typically runs the A/C compressor, alternator, and water pump so keeping a close eye on it can be the difference between a good running car and a ruined summer. If these tasks seem dauntings bring your car to Fair Oaks Ford’s Service Department. Don’t trust amatuer mechanics. With their well-equipped shops, OEM parts and the factory certified technicians, Fair Oaks Ford can insure a safe and problem-free summer vacation. There are many possible pitfalls involved with summer driving, but with proper maintainance car trouble doesn’t have to be one of them.

The Peugeot 306 XT HD

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Peugeot’s 306 diesel offers an alternative to the high petrol prices of today - and if you’re like us then perhaps you hadn’t considered it, either

Well, now we have. We’ve just spent a week driving the small Peugeot sedan with the diesel engine, and we’re delighted.

Honda’s Hybrid offers one way to beat the rising petrol prices, though with a bucket load of impracticalities and ergonomic compromises. Not to mention a sky-high $50k price tag - for something with only two seats and a pokey little boot.

And while diesel engines can’t hope to match the frugality of the Insight, they’re still a more money saving alternative to petrol powered cars. Peugeot’s 306 diesel offers a smarter, more practical way to beat the system - and it’s ready now.

The 306 HDi is powered by a 2.0 litre four cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, complete with the intercooler. Its 67 kiloWatts of power aren’t going to blow you away on paper, but suffice to keep you moving, thanks in part to the car’s relatively light kerb weight of just 1165kg.

Rather, it’s that friend of all diesel engines - the torque - that makes this a vehicle with urge. Exactly 211 Newton metres - on par with a Honda Accord - pushes you relentlessly onwards, dispelling any remaining myths about diesels being slow and lethergic drives.

And what about noise? Forget the memories of mums diesel Pug, or the neighbours’ black smoke belching LandCruiser, this diesel is refined. In fact you’d never know it is a diesel to drive. It’s quiet, it’s responsive, and it’s got power.

The 306 sedan comes with tilt adjustable power steering and air conditioning as standard, along with an engine immobiliser and electric windows and mirrors. Overall it puts up a damn good argument for taking a second look at a diesel powered car - until you discover it has that one trademark Peugeot flaw.

I haven’t driven a Peugeot yet in which the pedals didn’t ‘catch’ or stick in their travel - and the 306 diesel is no different. Smooth operation of the clutch when in heav traffic, or trying to ease away from the lights in the wet is much tougher than it should be simply because Peugeot can’t make a pedal with a decent action.

It seems like such a minor matter- but the pedals are, along with the steering wheel, the motorists main interface with the car. Would you bear working at a flickering computer screen?
